2F+ Coffee Roastery Relau

Every weekend near the bridge connecting across Sungai Ara to Kenari area, there’s a little truck that sets up in the morning and serves freshly brewed coffee to the morning crowd of market goers and the park go-ers of Taman Jajar Sungai Ara Linear Park. This coffee truck is run by 2F+ Coffee Roastery that has two physical outlets in Relau and Balik Pulau. The outlet in Relau, is sort of “hidden”. Right across The Golden Triangle apartments is a row of shophouses. When you find the particular shophouse covered in creeper plants and green foliage, that’s 2F+ Coffee Roastery.

Little Hunan Cuisine 小湘厨

This time round we had “travelled” to the southern province of China with our tastebuds. Little Hunan Cuisine 小湘厨 at Nagore Road boasts classic signature dishes that are hot and spicy. To keep the dishes served warm, most of it are served on a portable gas stove.   One of the many popular dishes is the Little Hunan Hot and Sour Fish Fillet; also commonly named Suan Cai Yu (酸菜鱼), that we love so, so much! Slices of fish poached in silky white fish broth with pickled mustard greens and numbing chillies, just simply addictive. The next favourite we ordered

La Vie en Rose

“La Vie en Rose” is the signature song of popular French singer Édith Piaf, written in 1945 which directly translates to ‘life in pink’. We were lucky to find a parking spot nearby on the narrow lane of Lebuh Melayu this one fine afternoon. As soon as you step in, you will be greeted by the owner and their beautiful French pastries on

Syarikat

Hungry bitches will always be food hunting. While ronda-ing around Penang island, we came across this abandoned office turned café hidden amongst a row of houses at Medan Lim Cheng Teik. Retro would be the word to describe the interior for this place as they cleverly reused the old office’s furniture as the decor. The food they serve changes from time to time. At the time we visited, they were serving their fresh handmade charcoal tagliolini pasta. We tried three of their pastas: Creamy Sambal with Smoked Duck, Asian Garlic Butter with Chicken Bacon and their Signature Pomodoro with Lamb

Laksa in Bayan Lepas

Penang is known for it’s assam laksa, the most popular one being the one in Air Itam. But sometimes, we’re just too lazy to go that far for food so we scoured our backyard and found these two yummy places. The first one is the Big Tree Laksa in Sungai Ara. The quaint store under a big tree is located in front of a row of houses facing the main road, Jalan Dato Ismail Hashim and has been around for more than a decade. Assam laksa broth has an amazingly complex flavour of sweet, sour, spicy and umami. It’s distinct
