Coffee culture has become popular amongst Malaysians as of late. Back in the days, it was our grandparents and parents that needed a cup of kopi-o to start their day. For the younger generations now, coffee is an anytime necessity. They have a total of seven outlets: 1 in Kulim, 2 in Bukit Mertajam, 1 in Simpang Ampat, 3 on Penang Island (Greenlane, Beach Street and Tanjung Bungah). The owners are twin brothers hence the use of their surname “Ang Ang”.

The Place
We visited their first pet-friendly out in Tanjung Bungah. Pets are allowed in their outdoor seating area with a few house rules.
The outdoor seating is equipped with an umbrella in the middle of the table with USB points for you to charge your mobile devices. We visited during the day and it was surprisingly not too hot as the umbrella was quite shady. The indoor sitting area is where their counter is and where you place your orders.
The Menu
Ang Ang’s Roastery has quite an extended menu with simple food items ranging from healthy rice bowls, salads, quesadillas, bagels, pastry, croissants and much more. They also have a wide range of beverage ranging from iced and hot coffee (which they roast on their own), teas, kombucha, milk series and juices.
We went during lunch and we were quite famished. So we ordered their Nachos with fresh guacamole, tomato salsa and lime crema as a snack. Then we had the Lamb Pita with vegetables and tzatziki sauce which was quite delicious. We also ordered the Lamb Quesadilla – tortillas with lamb, cheese, caramelised onions and lime crema. All the Pitas and Quesadillas have the meat options of chicken, beef, lamb and it is also available for vegetarians.
But of course, when there is dessert – we MUST try them too! We tried their Caramel Biscoff Cheesecake and it was absolute delicious it became an instant favourite.
On our second visit (we could not try everything so we had to go again since the first time it was so good!), we indulged ourselves with their Matcha Misu, Tiramisu (alchohol free) and Almond Chocolate Crack Cake. If you are a chocolate fan then their Almond Chocolate Crack Cake is a must-try for you!
Apart from cakes, they also have a selection of cookies. Their Lotus Seasalt Cookie caught our eye and it did not disappoint! They served the cookie warm and when you break into it, there is a oozing gooey centre – delish!
Oh! Before we forget, here are the drinks we tried: Dong Ding Oolong Tea, Iced Chocolate and Piccolo Latte.
