If you frequent the main road in Greenlane, Penang then you would have definitely noticed the Ghee Hiang Garden. Hidden in the garden is a small cafe with glasshouse like interior called Project CAN by Haru Hari.

We went there for a very late brunch and it was practically full! We were lucky to get seats without a reservation. Their menu ranged from Breakfast, Burgers, Pasta, Signature mains, Finger Food, Soup, Salads, Coffee, their Houz Specialty drinks and Dessert. Project CAN is known for their Signature The Bird Nest which is often sold out, but we were lucky to be able to sample the dish.
A soft boiled egg rests atop the nest made of deep fried potatoes and leek, katsuobushi (dried, fermented and smoked skipjack tuna), beef bacon or chicken ham and veggies pancake. To fully enjoy this, you’d need to crack the egg into the nest and mix it up before eating. The flavours really complement each other well and is really unique. It’s definitely a must try!
We also tried their Signature Lamb Shank and Black B&E from their breakfast series. Their Signature Lamb Shank is made from Australia imported lamb shank that is slow-cooked for 6 hours with their CAN Houz secret gravy and served with their soft mashed potato. Because of the way it was slow-cooked, the meat was tender and fell of the bones.
The Black B&E your typical breakfast meaty toast with beef bacon (or chicken ham if you do not take beef) and fried “kampung” egg topped on thick cut Japanese bamboo charcoal artisan rustic roll. Taste wise, it’s decent – you can’t really go wrong with bacon and egg on toast.
Of course we couldn’t help ourselves and just had to try some of their finger foods so we ordered their Tabasco Seafood made with assorted seafood (prawns or clams which changes by time) with creamy and tabasco based sauce served with sliced charcoal sourdough. The flavours combined are a unique blend of umami seafood with the tangy and spiciness from the tabasco that is mellowed down by the cream. The prawns were really fresh too!
Project CAN has really delicious drinks as well. So delicious that we forgot to take photos of ours! We tried the Dirty Hojicha (so so good!) and the Berry Berry Yakult. Their drinks are all served in a can as per their name 😊

Apart from that, they do serve desserts such as cakes. We haven’t had the chance to try those yet but we will definitely be back for more!
