Hungry bitches will always be food hunting. While ronda-ing around Penang island, we came across this abandoned office turned café hidden amongst a row of houses at Medan Lim Cheng Teik.

Entrance to the café

Retro would be the word to describe the interior for this place as they cleverly reused the old office’s furniture as the decor.

The food they serve changes from time to time. At the time we visited, they were serving their fresh handmade charcoal tagliolini pasta. We tried three of their pastas: Creamy Sambal with Smoked Duck, Asian Garlic Butter with Chicken Bacon and their Signature Pomodoro with Lamb Meatballs.

The Creamy Sambal was delish! Slightly spicy but not too bad as the cream mellows it down a notch. However the Asian Garlic Butter sauce surprised us! So good and creamy, we didn’t have enough. Would have probably ordered another plate if we weren’t stuffed already. The Signature Pomodoro was alright, the usual tomato base sauce but the lamb meatballs complemented the sauce well and were not gamey plus crispy on the outside.

Syarikat is also famous for their Basque burnt cheesecakes and they do have a large variety of flavours! We were quite packed in the tummy so we only ordered one cake to try which was their Salted Caramel Earl Grey Cheesecake paired with a glass of Iced Earl Grey.
